AUBREY ELLE RUMORÉ

what’s your favorite [writing, note-taking, drawing, crafting, doodling] utensil?

This is a simple black and white drawing of a paintbrush, pencil, pen, Pink Pearl eraser and Crayon Crayon, all lying horizontal. They are black line drawings with a white backdrop.

HERE FOR A PROMPT? Draw, paint, photograph or otherwise EXPRESS your favorite utensils for doing what you like to do. Writers: consider your favorite method of taking pen to paper, too - is it Ticonderoga graphite or Google Docs, and WHY?

BACKGROUND Since before I can remember, I’ve geeked out over colored pencils. Over the course of my childhood and into adulthood (if you can call what I’m doing that), I’ve tested out an assortment of pencils and erasers and shown up places with modge podge, paint, marker and/or a mix of the three on my hands. Entering my late 20s, I also continue the childhood practice of offering homemade art projects and cards as sorry consolations for holiday cards, birthday gifts, etc.

Despite my lack of patience for drawing fine-lined doodles like this as of late, the power of Adobe Capture’s photo-to-vector technology allows me to literally wave my iPhone over an old doodle and voila! A clean, simplified version of the crinkled drawing is captured and turned into a jpeg, which can then be saved to your photo library, uploaded to Creative Cloud, shared, etc.
